The Australian Government encourages the use of Home Solar systems by providing considerable rebates. This makes it less expensive to install a clean, reliable Solar Power System in your home.
The Federal Government financial incentive scheme for Home Solar Power Systems is called the Small Scale Renewable Energy Scheme. It issues a number of small-scale technology certificates (STC) for each kilowatt of power in the installed Solar System. So you receive money as a discount on the installation cost. For a 5kWatt system this means a $2500 discount.
The Solar installer manages this process, so the quoted price should already include this discount.
This Government discount is being phased out over the next decade, ultimately ending in 2030. Each year the discount is reduced by 7%. So the sooner the Solar Power system is Installed the greater the saving.
