Invert Faulty
Solar Inverters
Modern Inverters perform several functions. The basic function of an inverter is to convert DC power (in this case from Solar Panels) to the AC power used in the home. Inverters for Solar systems also look after the charging of the Battery storage system and monitor the performance of the system as a whole. They will have a digital display that shows the incoming and outgoing energy, and the present state of the battery.
The modern internet has allowed us to have remote access to the Inverter's monitoring information. This allows us or the homeowner to view the situation on our computers or mobile phone, and have an early warning of any irregularities
If there is something wrong with the solar system then the inverter should promptly alert us of the issue. If there is a problem with the inverter then the whole system will be compromised.
Some Potential Inverter Problems
Capacitors - These high power capacitors are very temperature dependent, and can be damaged by high voltage spikes or heavy power usage. The capacitors in an inverter may need replacing.
Overuse - If the inverter is being constantly used at high power it may end up damaged. The system probably requires a more powerful inverter, and perhaps other upgrades.
Poor Installation - A few companies compromise when they install a converter. Even a good quality unit will suffer badly if the earthing is poor, or if the installation area is poorly ventilated. Overheating can also cause problems. Sometimes the inverter simply needs to move to a clean, dry, stable environment.
Corrosion - Wires and terminals can become corroded, leading to poor power regulation as the resistance in the connections become high. Cleaning and replacing terminals, and finding ways to reduce the cause of the moisture that leads to corrosion, can rectify the problem.
Moisture - This can cause the earth leakage breaker protection circuit to trip, and the Inverter senses that there is currently going to earth. The source of this moisture causing the trip needs to be found and the situation altered.
Vibrations - This can be an issue if air conditioning or other equipment causes ultrasonic vibrations. Over time this can lead to loose connections or other wear on the inverter. Removing the source of the vibration, or relocation of the inverter, may be necessary.
